After successful in-field trials of the UVEX™ Grape Unit (GU), Vertex UV introduced the UVEX™ Strawberry Unit (SU) as an innovative solution to enhance crop quality, increase yield, and reduce labour costs. The concept was straightforward: with customisation, the UVEX™ could be utilised for plant and fruit disinfection, minimising the need for chemical sprays and offering numerous benefits to growers, similar to its applications in the horticultural industry.

The UVEX™ Strawberry Unit was specifically designed to address the unique needs of strawberry plants. This required a redesign of the original unit to accommodate changes in plant formation. Similar to its horticultural counterpart, the UVEX™ harnesses the power of UV-C light, offering a customisable application of UV-C light intensity to combat plant pathogens such as powdery mildew, downy mildew, and other fungal diseases. This treatment stimulates overall plant health and is delivered via a battery-powered autonomous vehicle.
The UVEX™ Strawberry Unit can operate day or night, in any weather conditions, with no drift, residues, withholding periods, diesel, spray chemicals, or operators required. This combination makes it a game-changer for the horticultural industry.
